Generally diving is better in the Banda Sea from September till November then again between March until May due to calmer seas combined with higher visibility.

  • Manta Alley (Komodo)
    This area has many manta ray cleaning stations close together so it is not uncommon for divers here to see several at once.
  • Batu Bolong (Komodo)
    This small pinnacle is often referred to as the “City of Currents.” There is a great number of underwater species here. Turtles, sharks, and a huge variety of reef fish are among them.
  • Babi Island (Maumere)
    Its walls are covered in giant gorgonian fans and soft corals are famous all over the world. In addition, pelagic fish can be seen swimming by against the blue background.
  • Japanese Shipwreck (Wai Terang)
    An exciting dive spot with lots of marine life and the opportunity to meet ghost pipefish or frogfishes which is located near Maumere and was used during World War II.

Best Time to Visit Flores

The best time to dive in Flores varies by location. For Komodo, April to November offers the best conditions, while Maumere is best dived from March to December.

  • The Cathedral
    It’s a wall dive with swim-throughs and overhangs. In the blue you might see large pelagics swimming by while colorful soft corals cover the wall.

    Schools of hammerheads can often be seen at this channel dive during colder months.

Best Time to Visit Alor

From April through November is usually considered as the best time to visit Alor for diving but if you want to see hammerhead sharks then October-November has more chances.
